I've Been to Edinburgh! | Photo Overload

Elf Cosmetics Haul | Beauty on a Budget February 2014

This months Beauty on a Budget comes in the form of a haul from (eyes lips face) Elf Cosmetics.
This reason for this is because I was looking to try some new things and decided to buy a couple of things, until a couple turned into a haul when I saw the prices! Yes, I've repeatedly heard of Elf from the Beauty Bloggers and Vloggers but never felt the need to take them up on it.

Now I was going to do this haul earlier but I thought that I should talk about these products after they were tried and tested rather than a blind opinion. After having these products for just over a month I have well and truly put them through their paces. However I did take these photos after just a couple of days thats why they look very neat and tidy. I wouldn't embarrass myself by taking the photos now!

Firstly I have these all over glow sticks.
A Highlight colour in ‘Spotlight’ a bronze colour in ‘toasted’ and a corally colour in ‘Golden Peach’ these are my favourites of the purchases as they are so creamy and pigmented. However these products, with the exception of the highlight colour are a lot darker and shimmery in the pot than they appear on the skin.
The coral colour is beautiful over the top of a crème blush to give it a little shimmer if your going some place fancy. Same for bronzer but I wouldn’t recommend a shimmer colour for bronzer as it doesn’t give the same effect as a matte bronzer would.

Next is the Crème blush and bronzer duo and £3.75… I think. This packaging reminds me a lot of NARS? Am I right? When I first saw these products I thought the bronzer was far to dark but if you put it on lightly and blend it out, I see this as suiting most skin tones as its really buildable! It leaves a light dewy finish on the skin making the blended bronzer and blush look so naturally beautiful! The blush again, is a corally salmon like colour, it may not be showing like that on the camera, sorry haven’t mastered the lighting yet!
Unfortunately this palette only comes in the one shade.

The lipsticks, at £1.50 what could I expect, after unpacking everything else and having such a good outlook on the other products these were such a let down. I knew deep down when I ordered it wouldn’t be all amazingly great cheap make-up that actually worked. There are a couple of lipstick collections, the cheap ones which are the bog standard Elf lipstick, the others slightly dearer than this at £3-5 which I know I was being stingy but I wanted to know if the impossible was possible, but no ill stick to mac for lipsticks thanks! Left: nostalgic Right: flirtatious They cling to every crack, ripple and crease in your smile! They are flakey and don’t blend well either, I have tried applying it from the tube, with a brush and with my fingers, it doesn’t matter. They’re an awful product. Do not recommend. It’s a shame as they had a beautiful spring time colour collection full of nudes and baby pinks.

Lastly I bought the ‘Eye widener’ just a basic white-eye pencil, works like an eye pencil would, £1.50 can’t complain (about this product anyway)
very pigmented, slight shimmer, good product....

so yeah... Thanks for reading guys!

Promise I won't leave a post so long next time
